Louis Henry – Guitarist, Composer, and Performer

Interested in a wide range of musical styles, his highly eclectic compositions are primarily inspired by Flamenco, Gypsy Jazz, Jazz, and many others.

Drawn since childhood to various artistic disciplines (visual arts, drawing, writing, sculpture), he began learning guitar as a self-taught musician at the age of 14 and quickly developed a passion for Flamenco.

After learning the basics of classical guitar with Maria-Nieves Mohino, he first studied Flamenco guitar in Belgium with Olivier Cima and Antonio Segura. Then, in 2006, he went to Granada, Spain, for nine months to deepen his Flamenco guitar technique with maestro Salvador Romàn, as well as with other maestros such as Yerbita.

Upon his return, he studied Jazz for four years (2007–2011) at Jazz Studio in Antwerp and at Jazz BXL, with guitarists Victor da Costa and Paolo Loveri.

In 2010, he decided to dedicate himself fully to composition in order to build the repertoire of the group Trovadotres, which he founded.

In 2013, the group released its first 5-track EP, Sombra y luz, recorded by Emmanuel Haessig.

In 2014, Louis was awarded the “Fonds Thirionet” grant from the Province of Namur, which allowed him to further his Flamenco guitar studies in Seville for one month with maestros Miguel Angel Aragon Briales and Paco Cortes.

2015 marked the culmination of several years of work in composition and arrangement, with the release of Trovadotres' first full-length album, Mundo perdido, recorded and produced by the label homerecords.be.

The album, made up entirely of original compositions, features seven performing musicians as well as two guests: Stéphane Mercier on alto saxophone and David Navaro Turres (conductor of the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra), who arranged the title track Mundo perdido, recorded with a string quartet.

In 2016, the group Les Frères Barezzi released their first EP – Le bon, le Belge et le truand – in which Louis composed and arranged part of the music with Robin Rees. That same year, his desire to merge music with visual art began to take shape, and it was through Les Frères Barezzi that this vision came to life, leading to several years of audiovisual creations, music videos, travel journals, and more.

In October 2023, Les Frères Barezzi recorded their first full-length album, entirely composed by the project’s three founders: Robin Rees, Louis Henry, and Thanas Kas. Recorded and produced by the label homerecords.be, the album is scheduled for release in January 2026.
